19.1 mm is the minimum thickness of sheathing for attaching cedar shingles on an exterior wall.
That probably refers to the layer of roofing felt(paper) that lies between the roof sheathing(plywood) and the shingles..a fallen limb could tear thru that "membrane" and rain could become an issue
Sand is used on roofing shingles to keep the individual shingles from sticking to each other during storage.
Asphalt shingles typically last between and 15 and 30 years. It varies depending on the quality of your asphalt shingles
The weight per 100 square feet coverage of the shingles.
Not as long as the nail heads are being coverd by the shingles. If they are not covered, they should be covered with roof pitch in areas other shingles cant cover or long life outdoor silicon calking.
You nail it down to your trusses as support and a nailer for your shingles
The benefit of roofing felt is to provide a simple barrier between the asphalt shingles and the wood sheathing below it. The sap in the wood is not good for the shingles.
Generally, stainless steel or copper nails are used to fasten slate shingles to the roof sheathing.
Architectural dimension shingles will vary in price depending on style, thickness, durability, and production costs. Cheaper dimensional shingles currently (2008) run anywhere from $50/square to $175/square.

of Side, Attaching one's self to a party., A side track, as a railroad; a turnout., The covering of the outside wall of a frame house, whether made of weatherboards, vertical boarding with cleats, shingles, or the like., The thickness of a rib or timber, measured, at right angles with its side, across the curved edge; as, a timber having a siding of ten inches.
When asphalt shingles were first used, it was done all the time. The problem is that the shingles will not lay flat which give the roof an uneven appearance and makes them much easier to puncture by walking on them or with hail. No one does this anymore, strip off the cedar and put plywood or OSB over the space sheathing. More work and expense, but worth it in the long run.
A laminate shingle's weight will vary a great deal depending on its dimension and thickness. A rough estimate would be that enough shingles to cover 100 square feet would weigh around 240 pounds.
There are too many variables to answer the question. weight will vary slightly by manufacturer, style, and durability. 3 tab shingles come in 20, 25, and 30 year warranty weights. Obviously, the longer the warranty, the heavier (thicker) the shingle. Architectural (shadowbox) shingles which come with 25, 30, 40 year warranties as well as lifetime warranty also all weigh based on thickness.
No. Shingles is not contagious, but someone with shingles can give chicken pox or varicella to someone who has not had chicken pox before.
Moss will hold water, and eventually rot the shingles. (Added) Moss puts down roots into the shingles, loosening the top granular protective layer. In addition, it will leach out the oils which give the shingle flexibility, drying and cracking them and leading to shingle loss and premature roof replacement. The additional water will freeze during the winter, lifting the shingles up, loosening the nails and allowing for shingle loss during winds, and for water penetration into the sheathing. Many a moldy attic has been traced to moss on the roof, which is why insurance companies are now starting to dictate it be removed safely (no pressure washing!) by a professional roof cleaning company.
I assume you mean the sheathing on the slope of the roof that the roofing is nailed to. It is unlikely you could get them to lay down flat enough to have a smooth roof when finished. Any dips between rafters is going to show through to the shingles.
