It is called a peptide bond. It is formed by a condensation reaction (that is a reaction where water is produced). When two amino acids join a dipeptide is formed. A typical protein contains many thousands of amino acids all joined together by peptide bonds.

What joins amino acids together?

The Peptidyl transferase is an aminoacyltransferase (EC2.3.2.12) as well as the primary enzymatic function of the ribosome, which forms peptide bondsbetween adjacent amino acids using tRNAs during the translation process of protein biosynthesis.Source : Wikipedia
