HISTORY: the actual recordings and the studying of the past. These are the recorded narratives of the past that people study to garner information about their past. Because history are written by the people in the past, unless we personally witness the events written or have more accurate evidence; we must assume what the writer has recorded is true.

There is a fundamental difference between history and the past. This difference is that the past is made from a bunch of different autonomous agencies (usually people) doing different things. It creates a sort of "scatterplot" of events and there is no one account of any general period that can unite those events into a coherent narrative. Such an account is impossible because there will always be events that are outliers in one narrative, but form the basis of entirely different narrative. It is not impossible for two different narratives using very different events as the basis of their interpretation to be equally accurate or for different interpretation that wholly avoids what are considered the central events in one interpretation to be more accurate than that interpretation. As a result, history is the analysis of the relationship between the events and as a result will be based on thematic elements. These narratives that try to connect past elements as best possible is called history.
