Not correct. The longest beach in the world is Eighty Mile Beach on the N.W. Coast of Western Australia, between the towns of Broome and Port Hedland.

This beach, despite its name, is actually 140 miles (220 kms) long.

The beach is in a remote and not easily accessible area, and a 4WD is needed for access along most sections of this beach. There are several points of access for 2WD vehicles, and the Eighty Mile Beach Caravan Park is located on the beach, approximately 365kms South of Broome.

This beach is Australias most important wetland area for shorebirds or waders, and it is recognised as a wetland of world importance under the Ramsar Convention.

The beach is subject to massive tides and has extensive tidal flats. The tidal variation can be 7 metres. When the tide recedes, some very wide areas of tidal flats are exposed, up to 4kms wide in some places. People have been known to be stranded in dinghies when fishing 4 or 5 kms offshore, when the tide went out. As a result, it is very important to know the tides in this area.
