It would have been made circa 1890-1914. Its value would be determined by how good it looks over a fireplace, probably $150-$200. It should not be fired. I OWN AND SHOOT AN A. RICHARD DOUBLE BARREL SHOTGUN WITH LAMINATED STEEL BARRELS AND HAVE DONE SO FOR WELL OVER 50 YEARS. I USE BLACK POWDER ONLY (IMPORTANT) WITH A MAXIMUM LOAD OF 3 1/2 DRAMS OF FFFG AND 1 1/4 OZ SHOT LOADED IN PLASTIC WADS IN 3" SHELLS. THEY REALLY ARE FINE GUNS BUT FOR BLACK POWDER ONLY. IF YOU HAVE ONE IN GOOD CONDITION, I'LL BUY IT. earl@nitline.net

There have been many variations on 'RICHARD.' If it is specifically RICHARD, it is almost certainly a Belgian-made hardware store gun made from 1880-1910.

I have the same. It reads Daminated Steel on the rib. It has Belgian makers marks with the gunsmith mark being a crown over JJ. Very little info available but it was a play on Damascus and Laminated. Probably ill advised to fire it.
