The formula you are looking for is I = kW x 1000/ 1.73 x E x pf. The formula uses .9 as a power factor. A #1/0 copper conductor will limit the voltage drop to 3% or less when supplying 116 amps for 59 feet on a 415 volt system.

∙ 11y agoCable sizing is based on the amperage of the load. The following formula is for amperage when kilowatts is known. I = kw x 1000/1.73 x E x pf. Amps = 15 x 1000 = 15000/ 1.73 x 380 x .9 = 15000/592 = 25 amps. Motor load feeders have to be 125% of the motors full load amps. 25 x 125% = 31 amps.
If fed from a 90 degrees C rated circuit breaker a # 10 conductor can be used as this conductor is rated at 40 amps.
If fed from a 75 degrees C rated circuit breaker a # 10 conductor can be used as this conductor is rated at 35 amps.
