Mexico is mostly known as being the southern neighbor of the United States. It is also known for being the home of a number of ancient pre-Colombian civilizations, having one of the world's most populous city for a capitol, and being able to survive while having the United States for a northern neighbor. It is also home to many cultural items and traditions, including but not limited to:

  • Gastronomy: enchiladas, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, tamales, nachos.
  • Drinks and spirits: tequila, mezcal, margaritas, Corona beer.
  • Resort cities: Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Zihuatanejo.
  • Sports: Soccer and the "Mexican wave"; Fernando Valenzuela at the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lucha Libre and El Santo, Blue Demon and Tinieblas wrestlers.
  • TV and movie Stars: Salma Hayek, Danny Trejo, Pedro Infante.
  • Climate: Hot-arid deserts and hot-humid jungles.
  • Ancient civilizations: Aztecs and Mayans.
  • National Holidays: Cinco de Mayo, 16th of September (Mexican Independence Day) and Dia de los Muertos(Day of the Dead).
  • Handcrafts and Garments: Taxco silver jewelry, Santa Maria del Cobre copper pots, vases, casserole dishes and chandeliers; black oaxacan pottery, the all-too-famous piñatas, sombreros, zarapes or ponchos, the huipil and huarache shoes.

Food and Beverages:

Home of spicy sauces like "mole", "pico de gallo" and "red" (made up mostly of red tomatoes and "green" (made up of green tomato) sauces.

Also guacamole (smashed avocados) was invented there. It is home of the enchiladas, tacos and burritos.

The tequila and margaritas were invented there.

Culture:

Mexico is home of the Mariachis and the Baile Zapateado; Songs like "La Bamba" have their origin there.

The Aztec and Mayan civilizations thrived within Mexico's borders. In Mexico you can find many archaeological sites with vestiges of their culture, including but not limited to pottery and ancient pyramids (i.e: Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza).

Also, after the fall of Tenochtitlan, the Spaniards founded many cities with a distinctive architecture called "Colonial Cities" that look very much like New Orleans or Madrid, Spain.

Geography:

Mexico has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, ranging from white-sanded beaches like those found near Cancun and the Mayan Riviera to rocky, violent-sea coasts good for surfing like those near Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos or Mazatlan.

As Mexico is in a subtropical latitude and has a rather rugged terrain, it has some of the most varied climates in the world: from the dry, arid deserts of northern Mexico to the humid tropical forests to the Yucatan peninsula; there is also temperate climate where the height allows for it. For example, Mexico City at 7349 ft, has a temperate climate much like that found in San Francisco or Los Angeles.

This is a rough draft of what Mexico has. Hope this helps.
