All latitudes between the equator and the north pole are called "north latitudes".

All of those between the equator and the south pole are called "south" ones.

The latitudes in both regions range from zero° at the equator to 90° at the pole.

The equator. This is the line of latitude that exactly separates the northern hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere. The equinoxes happen when the sun is at zenith (its highest possible elevation) right at the equator. This happens twice a year.

The tropic of Cancer. This is the northernmost latitude where the sun reaches zenith. The Tropic of Cancer is at 23.5 degrees (23 degrees, 26 minutes 16 seconds) north latitude. This happens once a year at the moment of summer solstice in the north.

The tropic of Capricorn. This is the southernmost latitude where the sun reaches zenith. The Tropic of Capricorn is at 23.5 degrees (23 degrees, 26 minutes 16 seconds) south latitude. This happens once a year at the moment of summer solstice in the south.

The antarctic circle. This is the southernmost latitude where the sun rises once and sets once during every diurnal period (24 hour day) throughout the whole year. The Antarctic Circle is at 66.5622 degrees (66 degrees 33 minutes 44 seconds) south latitude. Farther south, the sun will rise and not set for more than a day, or it will set and not rise for more than a day, depending on the season. The closer to the south pole, the longer are these extended periods of sun or of sunlessness.

The arctic circle. This is the counterpart to the antarctic circle, and is the northernmost latitude where the sun rises once and sets once during every diurnal period throughout the whole year. It is located at 66.5622 degrees (66 degrees 33 minutes 44 seconds) north latitude. The same is true to the north of the arctic circle as is true to the south of the antarctic circle.

The tropics and the arctic/antarctic circles are not fixed, but move as a function of earth's axial tilt, or 'obliquity of the ecliptic'. The tropics are currently drifting closer to the equator by roughly 15 meters per year, and the arctic/antarctic circles are drifting toward their respective poles at the same rate.

There are other lines of latitude that are special for various reasons. See link to Circles of Latitude for more.
