Great information; some updates: As of 12/15/2020 all Yahoo Groups will be disappearing. However, on 12/8/2020 a new Facebook group was formed called Killilea Fans, consisting of many members of the Yahoo Groups Killilea Fans which contains much information regarding the family. Everyone is welcome to join. Sadly, Karen passed away on 10/30/2020 at age 80 of a respiratory ailment; she worked as a receptionist at the Catholic retreat home for priests that was run by monks for 40 some years. The solace in Karen's passing is that she is now fully bodily able & pain free at last, reunited with her parents, her sister Katherine Anne whom she never knew in life (who died as an infant - was born in between Little Marie & Karen), her adopted sister Gloria, her brother-in-law Russ and nieces Mary deLourdes Lea, Evelyn Lea and Michelle Smiley plus their numerous pets over the years.

Go to Yahoo.com and get into the books section. There is a Killilea fan club that has dug out a lot of neat pictures on the family and gives you lots of info on the family. Karen lives indepentatly in an accessable apartment. She works as a receptionist for a catholic organization. Marie and Jimmy both died in the early 1990's, Marie from respritory ailments and Jimmy from Alzheimers. Gloria and Russ also died in 2001 - three months apart (Gloris first). They are survived by two sons, James and Russ Jr. Gloria and Russ had two daughters (mentioned in With Love From Karen) named Mary, age 9, and Evelyn, age 7. Sadly both girls died in a house fire (the little red house the was mentioned in the book). The fire was caused by an electrical fire. Little Marie has four children: two girls and two boys. Her seven year old daughter Michelle died in the house fire with Mary and Evelyn. Marie divorced her husband Ronnie Smiley and is now remarried. Her last name is now Irish. She still lives in upstate New York but not in the family home. The family home was sold. Rory lives in Seattle Washington. He was married once then divorced and has now remarried. Between both marriages, there are at least three to four children. Kristin married her high school sweetheart Simon Viltz and they have at least one daughter, who is now somewhat of a minor high school gymnastic celebrety. They live in Conneticut.

Who wasis Karen Killilea and what was her Miracle cure from Visual problems deafness what?

There was no miracle cure. Karen's disability is cerebral palsy. At the time when she was born, people assumed that any child with cerebral palsy would also be severely limited mentally, and the family was advised to institutionalize her. As explained in Marie Killilea's book "Karen" and the sequel "With Love From Karen," the Killilea family chose to raise Karen at home instead with as normal a life as possible, and proved that children with cerebral palsy can live normal lives and need not be mentally impaired.
