Some of the ways that one can get a red wine stain out of a clothing article or from a carpet are to use a towel that blots the red wine up. A towel that is made from paper is often most useful. Another way would be to use to use a damp cold water cloth to gently pluck up the wine from fabrics.

Keeping the stain wet is the key. Use water especially and club soda is known to work well. If the stain is red wine, then white wine can neutralize it. Work on the stain from outside in.
