How do I adjust heat on 6 qt. Corningware SlowCooker?
Cooks on high for two hours then goes to low until you shut it off. Works great!
These models have been discontinued so replacement parts are no longer available from Corningware.
When a slow cooker is set on auto, it starts out with a high temperature and then switches to a low temperature when the crock has warmed up sufficiently. When the crock starts to cool off it switches back to high again, and so on.
utill reaches a certain temperature
The auto function will cook on high for a certain lenght of time and then switch to low.
You probably can't, but a light sanding with Emory cloth might help. I'd be hesitant to try anything spectacular though. Glassware is fragile and can be damaged by misuse. Be advised too, that there is a school of thought which will tell you that newer (post 1984 if memory serves) Corningware may spontaneously explode. GOOGLE "exploding corningware" for a plethora of stories. FriPilot
The machine starts cooking on high and reduces to low once the food is cooked, I use it a lot and it is a great feature.
Funny you should ask. I am looking for a replacement lid for the same model. If I can't find a lid, my ceramic crock would be available for sale.
Yes, you can cook pasta in a slow cooker by adding the pasta, sauce, and water to the slow cooker and cooking on low for a few hours until the pasta is tender.
Yes, you can make meatloaf in a slow cooker by shaping the meat mixture into a loaf, placing it in the slow cooker, and cooking it on low for several hours until it is cooked through.
Parchment paper or aluminum foil can be used as a substitute for a slow cooker liner.
