JD uses a technique taught to him by his college roommate Spencer, called the mouse and twist. He applies mouse to his hair and twists it upwards.

Basically he has his hair length just above his eyebrows, then you would apply about a gulf ball sized amount of hair mousse to his hair, and then blow dry into position ( Its like a put-back-messy style). Once dry you apply wax to add volume and add the curl like feature.
