This off course is a quite difficult question to answer, depending on what you feel that you need on you're vacation. Are you staying at the beaches of Goa for one month, you probably can pack a little more, than if you for example are traveling for one month as a backpacker around the countryside.
I'm assuming that you are traveling as a backpacker, and then I would recommend that you pack as little as possible, clean underwear for seven days, maybe a couple of nice shirts if you want to eat in a nice restaurant, and good hiking shoes will get you a long way. Maybe a mosquito net if you are planning on living in open bungalows and such. Anything else you need, you can buy when you are there :)
