Alka seltzer dissolves pretty well in water. However when transferred to coke, alka-seltzer will not only dissolves very well but also fast enough to produce a stream of foam. There are many videos regarding this experiment on the internet.

Alka seltzer dissolves best in coke. There is a famous experiment of dropping alka seltzer tablets in to the coke and watch the stream of foam erupt. This can be possible only if alka seltzer can dissolve quickly enough.

It can be argued in a standard set of conditions that Francium dissolves in water fastest as it is the most reactive element. However, strictly speaking it has reacted with water and not dissolved as such.

The conditions below increase the rate at which a solid dissolves.

1. Heating the water. The warmer the water, the faster the water molecules move, thus enabling them to "pull apart" the solid faster.

2. Stirring the mixture (this gets more of the water in contact with the solid, faster).

3. Surface area to mass/volume ratio - breaking the solid up into smaller particles. The smaller the pieces, the faster it will dissolve, because this also gets more of the water in contact with the solid, faster.

Otherwise it has not been documented which solid dissolves the fastest.
