The cost of wine and champagnes on cruise ships (as with restaurants on land) is typically at least three times as high as they play for them at wholesale. To disguise the practice, many wineries use separate labels with different names for sale in restaurants on land and sea. This makes it difficult for customers to realize that they are paying perhaps three hundred and fifty percent more for the bottle than they would pay in their local retail store.

I don't know about the U.S., but Canada's wine prices have gone up. Also I heard on the news that Australia had replaced corks in wine to caps and it's catching on, so good wine will be introduced in possibly plastic bottles (as they states on the news) with caps like pop bottles. My own opinion is I like glass wine bottles and feel the cork enhances the wine.
