To become a TRUE cynic in the past, they had to live without material objects, and pleasure. They must be able to live in nature with no other materialistic surroundings. its hard to explain what they views were. They basically despised a lot of things. they thought pleasure was no acceptable. Pleasure means happiness as well as other things.
