Pigs are omnivores, cows are not; they are herbivores. Pigs are smaller in size and stature than a cow and are lighter in weight. Pigs have litters of 3 to 10 piglets per birth, whereas a cow will usually only have one--sometimes two--calves per birth. Pigs love to root, cows love to graze. There are more but this is all that comes to mind at the moment.

A pig is the specie of animal, a sow is simply a female pig.
