Hi there i was searching for disadvantages of structured English and came across your question, I have some advantages noted already, so thought I would share

Advantages:

Structured English is designed to be easy enough for a user who knows nothing about computer programming to be able to understand the steps involved in performing the various processes, yet the structure of the descriptions make it easy to eventually convert to a programming language.

Using Structured English also means not having to worry about initialising variables, opening and closing files, or finding related records in separate files. These more technical details are left to later in the design stage.

Structured English and Logic Modelling are used in conjunction with Data Flow Diagrams and other models (E-R) to provide us with an unambiguous and thorough explanation of the system specifications.

Structured English is intended to be used as a communication technique for analysts and users. Analysts and programmers have their own communication technique, pseudocode, which is really an extension of the Structured English concepts except that it resembles a programming language more than spoken English.

What is structured analysis all about?

Structured analysis is a set of techniques and graphical tools used by the analyst for applying a systematic approach to systems analysis. The traditional approach focuses on cost/benefit and feasibility analyses, project management, hardware and software selection, and personnel considerations. In contrast, structured analysis uses graphical tools such as Data Flow diagram, data dictionary, structured English, Decision tree, and decision tables. The outcome of structured analysis is a new document, called system specifications, which provides the basis for design and implementation. The primary steps included in structured analysis are: 1. Study affected user areas, resulting in a physical DFD. The logical equivalent of the present system results in a logical DFD. 2. Remove the physical checkpoints and replace them with a logical equivalent, resulting in the logical DFD. 3. Model new logical system 4. Establish man/machine interface 5. Quantify costs and benefits and select hardware. The structured specification consists of the DFDs that show the major decomposition of system functions and their interfaces, the data dictionary documenting all interface flows and data stores on the DFDs, and documentation of the intervals of DFDs through structured English, decision trees, and decision tables.

What is the purpose of SQLPLUS?

SQLPLUS, also written as SQL+ or SQL*Plus and pronounced "sequel plus" is a type of non-compiled (scripted) computer language that is used to write programs for accessing relational databases. The SQL acronym stands for "Simple Query Language" or "Structured Query Language" depending on who you ask. The original language developed by IBM was called SEQUEL (Structured English Query Language) but later changed to SQL due to the name SEQUEL being the trademark of another company. What are the differences between structured English and pseudo code?

Structured English is a subset of English language used to represent program logic in a clear and structured manner, while pseudo code is a high-level description of an algorithm that uses a mixture of natural language and programming language syntax. Pseudo code is closer to actual programming language syntax compared to structured English, which is more focused on readability and understanding by non-programmers.
