The experimental group was exceedingly small. Much of the data was falsified. The author, Andrew Wakefield, had a financial interest in creating doubt about the MMR vaccine and allowing his potential vaccine to replace it. The study was also not properly peer-reviewed before it was published.

Can obesity in mothers lead to autism in children?

No, obesity in mothers cannot lead to autism in children. Although we don't know the exact causes of autism it is largely due to genetic factors and genetic mutation, there is some evidence to link certain environmental factors such as use of certain antidepressants with autism but it's not conclusive. There is nothing to suggest obesity in the mother would lead to autism in her child.

Why do environmental factors affect people with autism?

No, as far as we know there are no environmental factors that lead to autism - autism isn't 'triggered' it is a neurological variation. This however does not stop people using autism to try to support their agenda, for example some people claim vaccines, GMO's or pesticides cause autism.

What happens in the body to cause the disease for autism?

Autism is not a disease, Autism is a neurological difference. As Autism is neurological it occurs in the womb, mostly we believe it is caused by genes or genetic mutations, although environmental factors such as medications taken by the mother during pregnancy may cause autism.

Does the mmr jab cause autism?

Most definitively NO. The MMR vaccine (and, all other vaccines) have absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH AUTISM. There have been repeated clinical studies, and absolutely no tie between the MMR vaccine and any incidence of autism has been discovered. The scare was caused by bad science and desperate parents, looking for something to blame, and a news media looking for the latest sensational cause. There never was any credible reason to assume there was a tie between MMR and autism, let alone scientific evidence.
