The equator is an intensely heated throughout the year .

Due to the intense heating the air in this region becomes warm and light and it rises above creating a partial vacuum .(As you know vacuum leads to decrease in air pressure)

As a result a region of permanent low pressure is created called the equatorial low pressure belt.

What low pressure zone is found near the equator?

What is the low pressure area around equator?

The Intertropical Coverance Zone. Or to abbreviate, ITCZ.

Which winds blow from mid-latitudehigh pressure belts to equatorial low pressure belts?

due to high temperature north west India becomes a seat of low pressure .this condition attracts the south east trade winds from southern hemisphere and while crossing the equator the winds change their direction to south west

Explain why there are global high-pressure and low-pressure belts on Earth?

The convection cells radiate heat.

What is the name of the winds that blow from the subtropical high pressure belts towards the subpolar low pressure belts?

Trade Winds

What is a pressure belt?

The uneven heating of the earth produces pressure belts. these belts occur at about every 30 degrees latitude. The rotation of the Earth flings the bulk of the air creating an area of low pressure belt in this region.

What is equatorial low pressure?

in equitorial low pressure belt , low pressure is due to 1) intense heating 2) rate of rotation of earth is max. at equator . this results in max centrifugal force at equator which pushes the air away from the surface and causes low pressure condition.

Is air rising or sinking at low pressure belts?

Air usually rises at low pressure areas

How do Planetary winds and Pressure belts affect climate?

Because high pressure belts have sinking motion and dry conditions. Low pressure belts have rising motions and havey rainfall. pce
