  • Yellow safety flame - Safe becasue you can see it easily and know it is there. Not used for heating because it creates soot.
  • Silent blue flame - Used to for gental heating and is silent and not very visible.
  • Roaring blue flame - Strongest heating setting and is made of two cones. The outside cone is the flame and it is blue , the inside cone is unburned gas that is purple.

There are two flames, a orange flame(sometimes called a safety flame) and a blue flame(sometimes called a heating flame).The orange flame is clearly visible and can be seen to indicate the Bunsen burner is switched on. it burns at a low temperature because of the lack of oxygen that is fed to the Bunsen burner.The blue flame is a hotter flame because of it's rich supply of oxygen however the flame isn't very easy to see.
