∙ 9y agoI guess you mean whether the Roman rich and the Roman state treated all plebeians fairly. No they did not. Capital punishment was common. Most of the death sentences were meted out on the poor. The rich usually got away with a fine or, at most, house arrest. The rich had a retinue of poor people who were called clients and who did errands and provided other services and political support in exchange for cash handouts, other favours and protection. It was an unequal relationship which the clients resented. The rich also looked down on the poor with contempt.
