Coke is not commonly used to clean engines. It can be used, but it isn't.
It can clean engines, along with other things, because it has carbonic acid in it (you have to use fresh coke, not flat). Most acids are good a cleaning sludge and battery corrosion.
Also it helps if you have an undiluted version that they send to places like bars, (the syrup) The undiluted version is a lot more acidic and it is much stronger. The reason we don't use it to clean things is because of the residue it leaves behind.

∙ 13y agoNo it was originally a pickmeup drink that did in deed work. The "coca" part of the name is the stuff cocaine is made from. The original drink had cocaine in it and that was why it was a good pickmeup and also very addictive.
