Charles Carroll of Carrollton could not have been a free mason as he was a devout Catholic and they were not allowed membership. He did have many friends who were members.

∙ 6y agoThe first 16 president’s were Masons and Washington was past Grand Master a 32 degree Mason. He had a Masonic funeral. FDR, and Ford were also Masons, so the Masonic lodge has been involved from the very start. The capital cornerstone was placed by the Masons and with a Masonic ritual. Carroll was the last Survivor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. He was also the only Catholic to sign it. I have found nothing about his being a Mason, but he did live to 95 years old.The last founding father to die was Madison.
