The current president of South Africa is Jacob Zuma, who has been in power since 2009. Prior to that Thabo Mbeki was president, and he had taken over from Nelson Mandela, who was the countries first democratically elected leader. Jacob Zuma belongs to the ANC (African National Congress), the same party that Nelson Mandela belongs too. This is the Republic of South Africa.
