What were the main ideas about politics in the Declaration of Independence?

The main idea of the declaration of independence was the sovereignty of the colonies from the rule of great brittain. The colonists were mainly upset about their lack of representation in Parliamentary matters. Given that they still had to pay taxes to the Brittish empire, there was a prominent saying of the time that was sparked from this contempt: "No taxation without representation."

Compare and contrast the Declaration of Independence and the universal declaration of human rights?

The Declaration of Independence was written to Great Brittain on July 4, 1776 to notify the monarchy that the United States of America was no longer a Brittish colony. Instead, the USA was now its own country with its own government. The Declaration of Independence listed reasons why the USA decided to sever its ties to the Brittish crown. The Declaration was composed during a meeting in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania State House. The US Constitution was signed in 1787 at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, PA. The Constitution outlined the most important government laws and citizen rights, creating a strong, centralized government. The Constitution was submitted to the states for their approval and after the vote, the United States Federal Government came into existence. The Constitution established our government as it exists today.Source(s):http://www.loc.gov/rr/program/bib/ourdoc…

Does the declaration of independence have any misspellings?

On the tenth line from the bottom. Jefferson spelt British with two 'T's. It is spelt correctly elsewhere however. Also, interestingly 'Neighbourhood' is spelt the English and not the American way.Also- the word is inalienable not unalienable. However, to make the US not look stupid our culture just accepted that unalienable is the same as inalienable.
