Fannin Street is still alive and kicking in Shreveport, and its history dates back more than 100 years. It is a place where many musicians have been influenced, including country star Hank Williams and bluegrass legend Sam Cooke. Today, you can enjoy that street and its many bars and saloons. Though it does not have as many dance halls as it used to have, you can still find some places to enjoy country swing music and some dancing if that is something you would like to do. At the very least, it is a stretching experience to behold if you are new to the area. One new area around Shreveport that is popular for visitors is the Louisiana Boardwalk. This is right on the river and boasts a number of great restaurants, shops, and boutiques. It is similar to many outdoor mall areas, except that it has a much lighter feel and can be a perfect place to spend a summer night. Additionally, there is a huge movie theater right in that complex, as well as a few more fun places to take the family after a day of shopping and eating. The city, as a whole, has much to offer. For its size, it has a remarkable mix of different cultural experiences to keep visitors happy.
