Can you get a one day insurance cover note to get your car out of a police compound?

You will probably have to get a policy and then cancel it after you get your vehicle, the difference will be refunded to you by the insurance company. Check to see if there is a time frame in which they will give a full refund for when you decide to cancel. Some companies will issue a full refund if you cancel within 24-48 hours and make sure there are no large cancellation fees.

Can you get a refund on homeowners insurance if you no longer own the property?

You may cancel a policy of any kind whenever you like and you will receive a refund on the unearned premium. If you don't own the property any longer, you certainly can cancel the policy. Make sure your agent cancels as of the day after you sold the property.

How do you cancel your Snap fitness membership?

Snap Fitness membership can be cancelled at the website or by calling customer service. If payments are made by automatic transfer be aware that they require a 30 day notice of cancellation. If your membership automatically renews on the 15th of the month and you cancel on the 10th, you will still be billed for another 30 days (this is regardless of when you cancel).

Can insurance companies automatically renew your policy without your permission?

Please keep in mind that I'm not a licensed agent and that I have never sold insurance, but I did work at an insurance company for over a year. I worked in the U.S., so I don't know if it is much different in other countries. We sold Homeowners insurance, auto, medical, liability, boat, bike, umbrella and more. When you get insurance coverage for your home or car the policy is supposed to renew automatically, policies will keep renewing unless there is reason that an insurance company wants you off of the insurance like if you have too many auto accidents and such. Of course, the insurance company still has to cover any big accident before they can remove you. As far as I know, almost all insurance policies (and the thousands I dealt with when I used to work on quoting and servicing policies) automatically renew. Now if you specifically said to cancel your policy at the end of your current term or a certain date, and the insurance company renewed/continued it anyway, then they are in trouble, and they must refund you for the time afterwards that you were covered after you asked the policy to stop. Keep in mind I'm not a lawyer though. Also, in case if you didn't know, you have the right to cancel your policy at anytime, all you have to do is tell your agent to cancel your policy at whichever date that you choose. Many people also aren't aware that you can get new insurance at anytime you like, your policy term doesn't have to be at it's last day before it renews, you can do it at anytime you feel like. Plus, if you want to cancel your policy mid-term or at any day, if you paid ahead of time you must be refunded for the time that you were not covered, in otherwords if you paid for December's insurance on December 1st, but canceled the policy on December 10th, the insurance company owes you the other 20 days you paid on December 1st, so they have to refund you the 20 days worth that you paid for. Hope this helps.

Can your auto insurance company cancel your insurance while you have an open claim?

Yes, your claim is based on the date that it happens so it's more important for you policy to be in force on that day.

Does your car insurance end the day you cancel or are you still covered for 30 days?

The expiration date, or the day you cancel is the official end of insurance coverage. Period. The 30 day "grace" period is a myth. If you just let the policy expire by not paying the renewal premium, they will PROBABLY reinstate your coverage retroactive to the expiration date, but I would not rely on that. If you CANCELLED, that's the end of your coverage.

How is short rate calculated in insurance?

Short rates represent a penalty for terminating a policy at other than the company's request. For example if the company were to cancel a policy at its request the prorate refund would be .507 of the annual premium at day 180 (1/2 year) The short rate refund on the same premium would be .400 at day 180. As you can see it is about 10% penalty. Example: on a $1000 premium you would get $507 back prorate but only $400 back on short rate. Hope that helps.

New Jersey Car Insurance Laws that Protect Consumers?

There are statutes and laws in place that protect consumer rights. These laws provide protection against discriminatory practices in matters such as terminations, cancellations and denial of car insurance coverage. Included below are car insurance laws that protect consumers in New Jersey.Right to Change or Cancel Your Insurance PolicyAll consumers have a right to change or cancel their current insurance policy whether it is up for renewal or not. If you shop around and find a cheaper policy, cancel your old one. You are also entitled to a refund of any unused premium you have paid. In the state of New Jersey, insurers have to pay consumers their refund within 60 days of their cancellation. Please note, do not cancel your automobile insurance until you have secured other insurance. A lapse in coverage could mean higher insurance rates.Your Right to a Cancellation NoticeUnder special circumstances, insurance companies have a right to cancel your insurance policy during the policy period. Situations such as: having your license suspended or failing to make premium payments will cause this mid-term cancellation. As a consumer, an insurance company has to send a 15-day warning notice of cancellation intentions to the consumer before the policy is canceled.Your Right to a Non-renewal NoticeInsurance companies have a right to decline the renewal of coverage of some policy holders. This can happen if the policy holder no longer meets the company's acceptance criteria, if the driver has driving violations, an at-fault accident or poor payment history. Insurers have to send a written non-renewal notice at least 60 calendar days prior to the expiration date of the existing policy.Right to an AppealIf your automobile insurance is cancelled or you're denied coverage unfairly, you have a right to an appeal. This appeal can be filed with Consumer Protection Services department with New Jersey's Department of Banking and Insurance. It can be reached at (800) 446-7467.
