Bad news. If you are uninsured, do not have an accident. If you can manage to pay the other person for the damages in an arrangement that is satisfactory to both of you, then you could be off the hook. Otherwise, you are looking at some major trouble.
You should find evidence or witnesses from the accident to give proof (testify) that the accident was not your fault. You could also go to court...
If they left the scene of the accident, then you don't have their name either ... need to have a name before trying to find out insurance information. Chances are, the person who "hit and run" has no insurance and probably was driving without a license and/or expired car registration. This is why insureds carry uninsured motorist coverage.
Did you locate the culprit? How much uninsured motorist insurance did you have? You have to find someone to sue.
why does someone always need to be at fault. its just an accident, get on with life and claim it on your own insurance, instead of trying to find someone to blame
I believe if, before the accident, you are listed as a driver on the insurance policy, then you are allowed to drive the vehicle too. If so, then the car at fault is at fault. If you are not listed as a driver, then your friend could be at fault if he gave you permission to drive the car. If he did not give you permission to drive the car, then you could be held liable. Liability covers only the other car, unless you have uninsured motorist insurance included, then your car is also covered if the at fault driver has no insurance, if you are listed as a driver. If the car at fault has no insurance what-so-ever, then they could be at fault because they should not even be on the road if your state requires minimal liability insurance. You can call any insurance company to find out, and remain anonymous if you would like, and if they will tell you. Or you can call a lawyer who gives free consults to find out. I would suggest that you first look up your state laws (regarding automotive insurance requirements for your state, if it has any). Then go from there. State laws may vary!
Thompson Solicitors have information about workplace accident compensation claims. It explains workplace accidents and who is at fault, as well as a list of organisations that can help. The website Accident Claim Expert also offers information about what to do once an accident has occurred.
Find the person who owns the car and sue them, and hope that you have enough uninsured coverage to fix your car
Russ Brown is one motorcycle attourney company which advertises frequently on TV. You can also speak to any accident attourney in California and likely find one willing to take on your case.
They are for accident, but you can possibly be ticketed for no car seat if police respond & find out.
Yes. If you have full coverage, or the accident was not your fault.
If this happened to me, I would find out what my insurance company can do and from there contact the police or file a civil or small claims suit. None, if the accident wasn't reported to the police.
Look up accident attorneys in your city. There are ususally a lot of them if you are in a decently sized city and they will always be willing to take on your case.
