start w/number cylinder turn engine over till cam lobe at max lift then rotate engine til cam lobe goes down then run rocker nut down while turning pushrod by hand til it has a little drag while turning pushrod then stop this is zero lash then do the next vavle same way tl you do all of them
There is an excellent description of this procedure in any Motor's or Chilton's manual.
well the lifters shouldn't be too tight if they are the correct lifters for your vehicle. if your having problems with your valves opening its probably because your rocker arms are torqued beyond specifications. buy a manual and loosen your rocker arms torquing to specs.
22 ft lbs torque on the rocker arm nuts is all that is required.
Yes they can depending on which ratio rocker arms you get.
to adjust the rocker arms you have to either tighten or loosen the top bolt on the rocker arm/arms that need to be adjusted. there is a specified torque for the rocker arms that you should follow to help you adjust the them
what is the torque on 2.2 rocker arms and in what order
A rocker arm shaft is normally a long shaft with rocker arms attached to it, that provides the pivet point for the rocker arms (newer Chevy motors).
First of all, They DO NOT TORQUE. If I told you how to adjust the valves you would just get confused. You need to get a chiltons book and follow the directions on how to adjust the valves. If you did torque are adjust / tighten the valves all the way down then you have probley bent a push rod are a valve. Rocker arms that are too loose will clatter, and you won't have all the lift of the cam opening up the valve. Rocker arms that are too tight can bend pushrods, hold the valves open, and bottom out the springs.
Roller rocker arms can be used with most any cam.
The 1985 Chevrolet Corvette rocker arms will have an adjustment screw on top of each rocker arm. Turning the adjustment screw will change the height of the rocker arm.
