you could weigh one square foot of your material and, assuming it is of uniform height across the entire area, multiply the weight of that one square foot by the total number of square feet. OR more technical, tonnage i assume is a mass measurement. thus you need the density of your material. you will also need to multiply the square footage by the height of the material, in feet. you may need to convert from feet to some other unit of length after you find the density also.
