if you use your keg all the time the spout will need it more than the line but back to your question drain the line and waste 1.5 the lines compacity. then invest in a kit to clean your lines. you can get them through the shop you purchased the keg unit.if they dont carry them they can order it or direct you to one. if its micro or malt you will have to waste twice a regular or light beer. the kit is the sanitary way to go
