PennDOT is responsible for more than 41,000 miles of roadway.
Townships control approximately 51,376 miles of roads and streets; boroughs and cities control about 9,460 miles and 6,779 miles each.
In all, there are more than 118,226 miles of public roads, streets and toll roads in the Commonwealth.


It seems that about 9,611 miles (118,226 - 108,615)
are either under the control of the federal government or no one.
