One litre is 1000 mils, which as your measuring milk is 1000 grams. (NB, fluid to grams conversion is only one-to-one for water, milk and any other equally liquid substance. As substances get thicker (yoghurt, oil, cream, buttermilk etc...) this conversion becomes inaccurate).
