The associates degree is designed as a two year program of study as a full-time student provided the student takes the degree as prescribed by the college, and provided the student does not require prerequisite coursework as a result of basic skills testing. There are some programs of study that may take a bit longer depending on the number of credits required. Usually these are programs within the health related fields. In addition, for students who require developmental course work as a result of basic skills testing, it would take longer. How much longer would depend on the extent of the developmental courses they are required to take. Evidently, those individuals who attend college on a part-time based would also extend their time in school. How much longer would depend on the credit load carried each semester. Typically, an associates degree takes between 60 and 64 credits to complete depending on the specific school, program of study, and state mandates.

The associates degree can range between 60 and 64 credits depending on program of study and state mandates. Some can require more and go into the 70s. Still, it is designed as a two year program of study as a full-time student, and provided that the individual takes the degree as prescribed by the college. One word of advise. If you are going to pursue a degree as a medical assistant, stay away from these private schools, and do it through a college that has a regional accreditation. There should be some community colleges in your area that offer this program.

How many credit hours are needed for an associated degree in the state of Ohio?

I don't believe that there is a difference between the states for requirements like these. An associates degree is generally 60 credits. You can receive multiple associates degrees pretty easily. At a local community college, a second associates degree is simply 15 additional credits if all other requirements are met. A friend of mine accrued an associates of arts and an associates of science within two semesters while he was taking prerequisites to transfer to a university. A bachelor's degree is usually 120 credits with a few weird exceptions. For example, at the University of Michigan a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry degree (B.S. Chem.) is 124 credits. Don't hate because I went to the University of Michigan and you're likely from Ohio. We're all friends on answers.com. :-) Hope this helps.
