Canned Albacore, Tuna, and wild King Salmon have shelf lives of approximately 8-10 years! In fact, the longer you are able to store your cans before eating them the better! By letting the cans slightly age, the natural juices and oils can settle into the fish, which increases its soft flakey texture. The shellfish we carry have a shelf life of 2-3 years. There is no apparent expiration date on each can; the expiration date is found within the cannery code.

Canned fish taken from sunken barge in Canada was bland but bacteria free, and protein was still good after 100 years. Check it out.It is documented on a military article.

It has often been noted that some canned goods have kept for between 50 and 100 years and have still been palatable. Five years may seem a good average but ensure that the can is still in good condition

What is a cold room in Canadian houses for?

It is the equivalent of a root cellar and can be used to keep things such as preserves and homemade canned goods, cold.

How long will canned tomatoes keep?

Home canned goods can be safely kept until the lid starts to rust or the seal is broken, but really should be used before the next harvest. Commercially canned stuff usually carries a best-by date. I wouldn't use it much past 6 months later.

Can cedar balls be used in kitchen cabinets?

You can use cedar balls in kitchen cabinets that contain canned goods only. Cedar balls have a strong scent that you don't want clinging to your dishes, or polluting your spices or bagged items like bread or chips. But I don't know the advantage to keeping cedar balls among your canned goods. Best you keep them in a closet with clothing or in your dresser drawers.

How long can you store edible dates?

The sell by date on provisions is only for the shopkeeper to legally keep stock on display for public sale. Outdated goods can be sold at reduced prices, and are usually kept in a special place on the shelves. Canned goods can be kept in your pantry as long as you like! When a can is opened, does it smell all right? Your nose is the best instrument to make a decision to eat or not!

How long can canned cranberry sauce last in the fridge?

You could keep an unopened can in the refrigerator for several month or possibly longer. I'd still use the "best by" date on the can as a guide for shelf life. Keep an eye on the condition of the can because the increase in humidity could make the can start to rust.

How long can you keep an unopened can of cranberry sauce in the cupboard?

Firstly, there is a BEST IF OPENED BY date on the can. After that, inspect any canned goods for rust, bulging, pinhole leaks, which means that those get tossed into the garbage.I opened a can of Whole Cranberry Sauce from WalMart (Great Value brand) that was BEST IF OPENED BY Feb 02, 2007. and it was perfectly delicious!Next one we'll use, from our pantry, in November 2009, has a date of April 08, 2008.

Is it safe to use canned lemon pie filling past the expiration date?

No. It depends how long after date. In general lemon curd is not boiled in manufacture and therefore does not keep as long as jam or preserves. It is best not to eat it if it is out of date. Once opened it must be kept refrigerated and used quickly. Make new curd freshly, it is easy to make, see link below.

Can you eat canned fruit after date on tin?

I have routinely eaten canned fruit after their expiration dates. That applies to most canned foods as well. One that doesn't last is canned milk. Toss it after it expires. Beans. canned meat, veggies, soup etc, all last much longer than expiration dates without altering taste or texture much. As long as the can is not punctured it should last much longer. One reason for expiration dates is of course safety. The other being likely, that companies want to sell their products, even if you can't keep up to eating them. So go ahead oand buy on sale eat later.
