The Best in game throw in the 90's.

For instance Alex Rodriguez throws 90+MPH when fully planted.

Rafael Furcal as well and can still hit 90mph from various throwing positions.

Derek Jeter could touch 90mph when he first came up but is in the high 80's when fully planted although his power drops at least 5-10 MPH when throwing on the run or in an awkward position.

If you want to know what your favorite player is throwing it is actually quite easy using a stop watch or even finger taps. A 90mph fastball takes about 4 tenths of a second to travel 60.5 feet. You can gauge this distance from where the infielder is throwing from. Throws from the 3rd base foul line, that are on a Line with no arc, have to travel in the mid 80's to reach first.

What many people dont realize is scouts wont even look at you if you dont throw at least 80mph for any position unless you have some other overwhelming skill. Infielders can generally maintain most of their arm strength but MLB outfielders arms are actually much weaker than great HS players and decent college and young minor leaguers arms due to the years of diving and stressed throws. Most MLB OF's cant even reach home from their position while almost all decent prospects can with ease. Many MLB OF's are throwing in the low 70's.

Another important point is MLB'ers were usually the best ball player in their entire state. Most played SS and pitched in High School
