Timing specification6°

NOTE: Timed at number 1 cylinder with Electronic Spark Timing (EST) connector (tan wire with black stripe) disconnected. The EST connecter is located in the engine compartment adjacent to the distributor.

CAUTION: Always check the underhood emissions label (if available). Specifications and procedures on the underhood emissions label supercede all others.

Do you have to unplug the brown wire on a 1986 Chevy Pickup when setting the timing?

1986 should be carburatored and it is not required. That would only apply to a fuel injected engine.

Where is the timing belt on a 1979 cevy pickup?

A 1979 Chevrolet pickup does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain. The chain will last the life of the engine and is normally replaced during an engine overhaul.

Where is the crank shaft position sensor on a 1996 305 Chevy pickup?

If it is the VORTEC engine then it is bolted to the passenger side of the timing cover on the front bottom side of the engine. If it is the TBI / THROTTLE BODY INJECTION engine then it don't have 1.

What does a throttle sensor do?

A throttle position sensor (TPS) is a sensor used to monitor the position of the throttle in an internal combustion engine. The sensor is usually located on the butterfly spindle so that it can directly monitor the position of the butterfly throttle valve. The sensor is usually a potentiometer and therefore provides a variable resistance dependent upon the position of the butterfly valve (and hence throttle position). The sensor signal is used by the Engine Control Unit (ECU) as an input to its control system. The ignition timing and fuel injection timing (and potentially other parameters) are altered depending upon the position of the throttle, and also depending on the rate of change of that position. For example, in fuel injected engines, in order to avoid stalling, extra fuel may be injected if the throttle is opened rapidly (mimicking the accelerator pump of carburetor systems).

What are the timing marks on a 92 Isuzu pickup with a 2 6 fuel injected engine?

There are three marks to line up... before you remove the lower timing belt cover there are the marks on the little gauge that is integrated into the cover that line up with a mark on the main crankshaft pulley (to actually time it while the engine is running) there are also marks on the camshaft sprocket (big sprocket at the top of the engine seen with the upper timing cover removed), that lines up with a white mark on the upper rear plastic timing cover. And finally if you replace the timing belt there is a mark on the crankshaft sprocket that lines up with a mark cast in the face of the aluminum engine block. mnemonic76 1988 Pickup owner

What does the oxygen sensor on a 97 Dodge Ram 2500 do?

Do dodge pickup trucks have governors?

On the fuel injected engines, the computer acts as a governor. The transmissions up till the 1996 also had a mechanical shift timing governor.
