too late now. You must put yourself down BEFORE you lend them money. Or go with them to the DMV and have them allow you to be put on after the fact. You cant do it without their permission.

Can you take out a loan on a car you don't own?

No, you can't, since you have to give up your title or authorize them to put a lien against it, you can't take out a title loan if it isn't in your name.

What is a title loan?

A title loan is also known as car title loan. It is a type of secured loan where you can use your vehicle title as collateral to get the funds you need. When you borrow with your car title, you allow the lender to place a lien on the title of your car, SUV, RV, truck, or motorcycle in exchange for a loan amount. This loan don't rely on your credit score.

How can I get the Finance Company removed from my title to show only my name in order to sell it?

Contact the finance company and get a lien release from them. With that lien release you can have them removed from the title. You cannot get the lien release unless you have paid the loan off in full.

What if previous owner still has title to the car you got a loan for?

I doubt that the title is still valid; but check with your lender before you make loan payments and make sure. They should be holding title in your name with a lien.

If the loan for a vehicle is in one person's name and the tite in another's what are the rights of the person on the title if the vehicle is repossessed?

None, unless the person who is named on the title chooses to make an agreement with the lender to refinance the car in their name. A title which has a lien against it does not confer ownership to the title holder. The vehicle belongs to the lender/lien holder until the loan agreement is paid.

need a lien letter cause lost my car title?

Once your car loan is completely paid off, obtain a car title lien release from your lender so your state BMV or DMV can put the car title in your name.

If the title to a car is in your name but the name for the car loan is in someone elses name who has legal ownership?

If only your name is on the title and the loan is not listed as a lien on that title then you are the legal owner. If someone else obtained a car loan for you then their name should be on the title to the car with yours. The question of ownership should be addressed if someone was kind enough to borrow money for you to have a car. The car should have full insurance coverage in case of an accident.

If someone has a car title that belongs to a person that someone paid for from a title loan place and the person didn't put his name on the lien spot so does the car still belong to him or you or who?

The car belongs to the person listed as the owner on the title. Listing someone as the lien holder does not make them the owner. You can't transfer a motor vehicle when you know there's a lien on it. The lien would be reflected on the title and a prudent buyer wouldn't take title that is encumbered by a lien.

What is the limitation on a car with a lien on it before you can get the title?

If the car has a lien, you usually have to pay off the lien before you can get a clear title. Otherwise, in this state you have the name of the lien holder on the title.

Your son gave you a truck as a gift you are on the title vehicle is insured and registered in your name He is in default on his loan Can the bank repossess your vehicle?

If there is a loan against the car then the bank is on the title and they own the car, your name would be on the registration but not on the title, so yes they can repo it. If you have the actual title in hand then their is no loan on it and you own the car.

Can i Put a lien on a vehicle to get my name on the title?

A person or a company that puts a lien on a vehicle is a "lien holder" that is on the title. It is not recognized as ownership.
