i lived there as a child. we pronounced the G as an H and also pronounced the E at the end. hab-o-ro-nee. it's named after a chief from the late 1800's.

^Typically it's the Afrikaans who pronounce G's with H. gab-o-ro-nee is a perfectly acceptable pronunciation.

Note: The 'H' is a sound that is not found in the English language. The sound is officially called a 'Velar Ejective Fricative'. If you do a search for it you can find clips of what it sounds like if you wish to use that pronunciation.
