How do you get your Massey Ferguson to shift out of reverse it is stuck in reverse?

If the trans is locked in one gear, and the stick refuses to move, it has very likely jumped out of the shift selector rods. You will likely have to remove the shift stick cross pin, to pull the stick out, and manually with a long flat screw driver, shift all rods to the neutral position. There are cut aways in the rods. The neutral position should be when they are all in the same general location so the stick can move between them. Test this by bumping the starter, before replacing the stick.

I am not sure but there should be a switch by the brake pad to release the safety neutral switch to allow you to shift. Try that.

sounds like selector in transmission is broken if you can move the shifter but the trans does not change you may have broken the shift cable.

Type of vehicle and is it a standard or automatic? Could be shifter linkage, clutch, something stuck around the shifter. If standard, will it shift into reverse when the engine is off? If so, it is most likely the clutch slave cylinder. Could be the master cylinder, but the slave usually goes bad first.

Check the shift linkage to see if it is loose , and has gotten out of adjustment . Unhook both the high /reverse linkage and the low linkage . See if you can shift it out of gear with a pair of pliers . Then see if you can get it in high and reverse . If you can then adjust the linkage .
