Talk with the adjuster and explain the situation and I'm sure they will work something out. They may still have to issue the check to you and the lienholder because you are the person who has the contract with the insurance company.

I had a single car accident with no injuries and just damage to my car. How do I proceed with my insurance company?

You call your insurance company and file a collision claim. You pay your collision deductible and they will set up repairs for your vehicle.

Can an insurance company cancel your policy if you don't make repairs?

If you are referring to damage on your vehicle that your insurance has paid for then yes they can cancel your insurance if you don't complete the repairs. Also, another consideration is that you don't show "pride in ownership" which is an insurance term meaning that if you don't take care of your vehicle properly you probably aren't as careful about caring for the vehicle. They may allow you to keep liability coverage on the vehicle if you don't want to keep the physical damage coverage.

If your car is a total loss will the insurance company help you fix it if you both pay?

If your car is deemed a total loss, the insurance company will only pay up the value of the vehicle. They will have nothing to do with the repairs. If the vehicle is worth $5,000 and the damage is $8,000, you are going to pay $3,000 out of your own pocket. Once the insurance company pays you that $5,000, they are out of the picture. Just be prepared for a 'salvage' fee to be deducted from your settlement by the insurance company. That is what they would have gotten for your vehicle if you had surrendered it to them.

Who is responsible for damage to a repossessed car?

The tow company is responsible for damage they did to the vehicle, if they claim they didn't do it you have to prove it and make a claim/sue them, otherwise you need to claim it on your insurance.

No. It's insured by the repossesor. Matter of fact if he wrecks it he has to pay.

What happens when a car repair is more than the value of the car?

Typically if the cost of repairs exceeds 85% of the value of the car, the insurance company will offer to total your vehicle, because of the amount of time it takes to complete repairs combined with the labor/processing costs the insurance company incurs, makes it more time and cost efficient for the vehicle to be totaled out. You will receive a check for the actual cash value of the vehicle minus your deductible
