This is one method for drying off pots of bulbs as no water reaches the roots. With any other plants the growth will turn upwards towards the light. Eventually because of the lack of water the plant will die.

The plant would grow according to light, which is a tropism, and it would grow upwards despite gravity. So it would bend to where the sun is.

If it has a good root system the plant will curve to grow towards the sun. It may not flourish as well if it had not been knocked over but with adequate water it will still grow.

Potted plant loves sun?

It depends on the species of plant in the pot. All potted plants will need light but some are shade loving and will not grow well if placed in direct sunlight. Have a look at the instructions that came with the potted plant or ask at your local garden center or plant supplier. It is also important not to over water a potted plant.

What is the name for a plant's growth response to gravity?

Certain plants react to gravity by growing against it or towards it. It is the tropism of gravity called a geotropism. For example, if a potted plant falls over then it will continue to grow towards the sky. If a mudslide occurs and it drastically tilts the land where a tree grows, the tropism allows the tree to grow upwards. Alternatively, geotropism works for roots as well. Roots will respond to gravity by growing downwards. It can be observed that no matter which way a seed is planted the roots and the shoots respond to gravity in opposite ways. Plant hormones, auxins are responsible for this response. Phototropism is the response of plants to light.
