It would effect it because a harbor is used to dock ships and boats so they could go sell their products. If the government will not let them get on boats then they can't sell the products. They aren't making money.

Why did parliament pass the intoerble acts?

The "Intolerable Acts" - actually called the "Coercive Acts" by Parliament - were designed to punish the Massachusetts colony after the Boston Tea Party. The basic idea was to force the colonists to acknowledge the authority of parliament and by doing so reduce the rebelliousness of the other colonies. The closing of the Port of Boston was just an outright punishment, depriving merchants of money. The other three were intended to increase the control of the crown, but were widely seen to be unfair. Effectively closing the colony's self government, removing Crown officials from the jurisdiction of the local courts and permitting the quartering of soldiers at the Governor's discretion. The acts had more or less the opposite effect to their intention, further inflaming unrest.
