Answer Jane Seymour, the third of Henry VIII's six wives, married the King on 30th May 1536. On 12th October 1537 she gave birth to a son, Edward, who later became King Edward VI. Shortlly afterwards, on 24th October 1537, she died from septicaemia - a complication of the birth.
She died (approximately) 10 days after giving birth to her son, Prince Edward. History states that it was from puerperal fever, a disease fairly common in those days and death often followed contracting the illness due to improper hygienic techinques of the era.
