How can you get into semi-pro or independent baseball leagues?

Regarding the independent pro Baseball leagues there are many ways. You can get signed if you are willing to hustle. They include:

• Attending the open tryouts hosted by the actual team or league
• Attending legitimate 3rd party tryouts/camps run by those trusted by the independent leagues AND who have a track record of placing players on teams (e.g. Nick Belmonte's Indy Pro Showcase - often endorsed by the American Association and the Can-Am League)
• Getting a private workout/tryout
• Having your college coach help you get exposure to the various independent league managers and coaching staffs
• Getting your stats sent to team or league directors of player operations/procurement
• Attending the pay-to-pay developmental leagues run by some of the leagues during the winter, spring and - occasionally - the summer as well. This way you are on the "radar screen" of the teams as you can get called up from a developmental league to an actual team roster
• Becoming a bullpen catcher and then working your way onto the roster in the latter part of the season. If you choose this route then you can "network" by meeting other managers and coaches in the league + their colleagues in other leagues may need someone at your position (catcher or other)
