You must define what you mean by "culture". Do you mean a conflict between someone who has not had the benefit of social graces and upper class behaviour mechanisms? For someone who has not benefited from social grace lessons a confrontation with another (upper?) social situation would only increase discomfort and a sense of inferiority. Observe what happens when someone tries to register in a 5 star hotel not dressed properly. Often the clerk will say there are no rooms available. It may not be obvious that this has a detrimental effect on that person's self-esteem, but it does and reinforces class divisions. By mixing things up and trying to show that there are no divisions the damage is even greater. Human nature appears to have an in-built sense of hierarchy and this will never change. Why not try to research the reasons for this and make them clear. We are only born equal in the eyes of God, whatever God might or might not be. I think it it is crystal clear that He has no real direct influence on the daily rounds of the ant heap. I feel that people prefer to have a sense of place in the scheme of things and - they ought to have the chance to improve their lot but they should not have their safety ladders snatched from beneath them. All of us need a sense of belonging and a sense of place and in an ideal world that would be created in a loving, supportive structure. For example. I attended an after drinks party( Church of England mass) in a distinguished place. I knew that the butler for the evening had just lost his wife. He still turned up for his duties. When he served me my drink I enquired if there was anything I could do to help him. My then "boss" (superior personage in the place concerned who was also a priest in the Church of England) said in a LOUD voice - YOU must not talk to the servants. Of course both of us were humiliated and what I thought was so-called Christian concern was shown to be wrong. You can imagine that no longer do I attend such a church! He should have asked after the well being of the butler before I did! Culture in the proper sense of the word, meaning improvement to one's perception of the order and beauty in our world, like the structure of a rose that has been well tended does enhance the health - but culture that makes one human soul recoil in such a startling and cruel attack does not. The priest concerned had "risen" and had therefor not had the benefit of any culture at all since his idea was to lame those he saw as beneath him including me. (This is one of the most obnoxious aspects of the CofE as it cannot claim to be Christian so long as it worships the so-called upper classes.) Therefore, culture, can indeed help a person feel achievement and well being but it can also diminish the diminished. Perhaps our so-called philosophers should spend their time working on that. The human being has much to learn and in my mind is at the bottom of the heap on this planet. Animals have far more common sense and love and culture.

It depends on the specific culture.
