WWII is not an example of history repeating itself because history never repeats its self. There is no way to have the exact same conditions on any given day in order to show that history can in fact repeat. History can also not repeat because time moves linearly and forward and thus there is no way for History to repeat. Even if things seem the same they are not because their are too many factors in each event of life that can greatly influence the outcome of any event. We can not learn from history specifically from events but we can use history to learn about the human condition and how we try to manage our problems. But we cannot simply justify an event with another event.
History teaches us allot of things. Mainly, what we did wrong, how not to do it again, or if we do, how to straighten it out. That is, as long as you actually learn your lesson the first time. If not, history will keep repeating itself, as many say is happening today. But studying history is a good thing. Even in todays world and problems.

There are various connections between history and science. History has been greatly influenced by science; certainly the world today, in 2013, is a much different world, I would even say an utterly different world, than what it would have been had science never been developed. Science itself also has a history and the history of science has been studied by historians. And finally, historical investigations are often aided by scientific methodology and technology, for example, the use of carbon dating to find out how old something actually is.
