No. Flywheel required.
For most engines there is no need to change the crankshaft to use an engine for an automatic or a manual transmission. For an automatic, connect a flex-plate to the crankshaft. For a manual transmission connect a flywheel.
The fluid filled torque converter acts as a heavy flywheel when bolted to the thin flex plate.
NO it will not FIT.
You can use any SAE certified manual transmission fluid in your 1996 Ford manual transmission. Make sure you use manual transmission fluid and not automatic transmission fluid.
Use Dextron automatic transmission fluid (even for manual transmission) per the factory manual. Cheers Malcolm Use Dextron automatic transmission fluid (even for manual transmission) per the factory manual. Cheers Malcolm
The Chevrolet small block 400 will bolt in place of the 305 but be sure to use a 400 flywheel or flex plate. Do not use the 305 flywheel or flex plate on the 400.
I dont think manual transmission cars use transmission fluid.
The flex plate connects to the crankshaft and bolts to the torque converter. The flex plate also has a ring gear that meshes with the starter. If the flex plate is in good condition it can be re-used. Check the gear to make sure that none of the teeth are worn. If all teeth are still in good shape and there are no cracks in the flex plate it can be reused. very commonly found in older ford f250

unbolt the torque convertor and separate the transmission from the engine. the flex plate is attached to the crankshaft by 6 bolts that use an 11/16" socket. You'll probably need a tool to prevent the engine from turning because the bolts are usually very tight. You may need to heat the bolts to get them out. Sometimes there is loctite on the threads.
Manual transmission fluid is MERCON automatic transmission fluid.
you fill your transmission with gear oil as opposed to transmission fluid for automatic transmissions. you fill your transmission by removing the plate around the shifter from inside the cockpit of the car. pop out the plastic console around the shifter, remove the shift boot (leather/fabric) then you will see the top of the transmission. there is a plate with 6-8 nuts that you remove, pop the plate off, and pour in the gear oil. make sure you dont over fill it. use the specified amount by referring to a Hyne's or Chilton manual. or you can find the specs online.
