Not all years, no. 1989-1993 were the years that caused that rumor. The dealer I work at did one transmission a day in the late ninetys and now we do not even do one a month.

Ford by far they are the most reliable and will last the longest. dodge is powerful but they usally don't last long and have bad transmissions. Chevy is good but they don't have as much power as a ford.

The pulley has probably gone bad. This is very common for Caravans. Try having the pulley replaced and see if that solves the problem.

I have been told by a mopar service manager that they have to replace the tranny's quite often in the newer chargers and magnums as they are weak, my son has a 2008 charger R/T with the 5.7 hemi and his went out at 55,000 miles.

Possibly your transmission isn't shifting out of 1st or 2nd. This is the 'safety default' when the Speed Sensor in the transmission goes bad. About $150 for a Transmission shop to fix (tranny doesn't need to be pulled). They can test for this externally via the diagnostic port.
